Measuring Up

When people used to tell me "time flies" and/or "she'll grow up before you know it".... I used to roll my eyes and secretly think I'll absorb each moment and it won't go by so fast. Well, I do still try to enjoy every second with her (well, that might be an overstatement for times when she's in Sailer meltdown mode), but time is still slipping away too fast. I look at her each day and wonder where my little baby went?!?!? Well, as I mentioned in a previous post, her Uncle Tim and Aunt Lisa bought her a 2-yr-old oak tree for her 2nd birthday so that it would always grow with her. The tree is growing as fast as she does! We made a family event out of planting it this past weekend... and Sailer assisted with each step of the process. We planted it right in front of our house, so I'm sure the neighbors are confused why we have a random baby tree in our front drive through, but it seemed like the perfect place for it. Because one day (I'm sure far too soon), it will be a BIG beautiful tree....

Family Time in the Bluebonnets

Thanks to my friend, Courtney (you can find her work at Anthologie Images) we actually took family pictures in the Texas bluebonnets this year!!! We have been trying to do this for 3 years now, and for one reason or another, it just never happened! Anyway, I just received my CD of images today, and I just had to upload them immediately. Here are my favorites (there were a lot despite me looking like I'm about to explode), and the remainder are on our site.

9 April ~ Precious Naked Girls Decorating Eggs.... nothing cuter!

This afternoon Sailer had 3 of her gal pals over for a little girl time decorating Easter eggs... they were so stinkin' cute and MESSY!! It was what you'd call a beautiful disaster. Though the eggs weren't what you'd call masterpieces, the girls seemed to have a blast just causing a giant mess and getting covered in the dyes themselves (for ex: Sailer pouring a whole cup pretty much down herself and Hope). She also thought the egg holder was completely useless, so she decided to just use her hand to dip the eggs. Thank goodness it came off during her bath- I just kept thinking of the beautiful Easter family photos of her with a bright green hand. Here are a bunch of pics from this afternoon...

Looking feminine in her big BOY pants...

Sailer grabbed some of Mark's old undies and put them on during a little laundry break... isn't she sassy even in those nasty whitie tighties (one of my least favorite things in the world and something Mark likes to torture me with on occasion)?!?

8 April ~ the Easter Bunny's Candland

This morning Sailer and I made a house for our Easter bunny out of cookies and candy. I always pass these by at Target and finally just decided to grab one for us girls to have a fun project to do together. Well, I should've known after the Christmas gingerbread house creation that she'd absolutely love it.... I means what's not to love from Sailer's point of view.... getting messy with mommy's blessing, lots of icing to dig your sweet little fingers in, cookies, and candy galore to use or snack on. Of course, our house didn't quite look as perfect as the example on the box but it was so much fun. And I loved getting the quality time with my sweet first born!

7 April ~ Mommy & Sailer Doctor Appointments & Updates

Today was YUCKY. Sailer and I both had to go to the doctor which is never fun... so here's the breakdown.

Here's a pic of Sailer waiting for the doc to get to us (insert: entertaining herself and mommy). Poor little thing had been super cranky and now we know why... 4 little words: two year old molars. OUCHIE! It has caused some nose runs and a minor ear infections. So needless to say, we are back to the antibiotics.
Height: 32 1/2 inches (25%)
Weight: 23 1/2 pounds (40%)... so proud of this one!

And on to mommy. Depressing results. This baby is going to hold on FOREVER!! Augghhhh... I'm still dilated to a stinkin' ONE. But am now effaced at 80% (this is an improvement). When I say he is low, I mean L-O-W! Even the doc mentioned it today. So now I am DOWNING raspberry tea and am massaging the acupuncture points my sweet prenatal masueuse showed me. Let's get this show on the road! I'm so ready to meet this little man. (=

6 April ~ Blackjack and Honky Tonks

Tonight Mark & I headed down to the stockyards to a Casino Party at a fun honky tonk bar and then, drinks at one of my fave old stomping grounds, the White Elephant Saloon.... I grabbed this photo of the boys. I'm so sad I didn't grab of pic of my cowgirl boots that I got this past Jan for the rodeo that I never got to wear...
