I SO needed to read/hear this...

Sailer's CRAZY Tia Carmen is, shall I say, NOT of the norm variety on a lot of things... this is probably why I love her so much. She doesn't do anything just because you're supposed to, but she always has a well-researched argument and reasoning for everything she does that goes against the grain (ie it's not just to be eccentric or trendy, there's a true purpose). Anyway, I say all of that because I follow the blog of her Bradley coach (insert- I plan to have my glorious epidural should I ever go into labor). And while I don't always agree with all she writes, I do find her extremely interesting and value a lot of her information and research. Anyway, she just wrote a new post about prematurity in babies, the rise in NICU, C-sections, and inductions, and lastly, how our culture views babies being "fully cooked" before due dates even arrive. One quote in particular hit home... "Each week, day, even hour, that a baby stays in the womb is invaluable." I SOOOOOO needed to hear this.... because for me right now, every day and hour seem to literally drag on forever! I write all of this (1) because I'm killing time at 5 in the morning b/c I can't sleep and (2) NOT to say inductions are the devil b/c I think they serve an invaluable purpose but it just makes me feel better about suffering and waiting it out (and believe me, I need all the cheering up I can get right now! Ha.) Who knows, at some point very soon, I could be set up for an induction and that would be just fine, but for the moment, I (along with Lincoln) am just going to keep on, keeping on. (=

If you're interested, you can read her post at http://banned-from-baby-showers.blogspot.com/2009/04/dangers-of-prematurity.html.

when is your actual due date?

Although my induction was heavenly with Clara, it wasn't my choice, and I was so hesitant for the reasons you listed. However Lincoln comes out, will be wonderful! Enjoy your last few days with Miss Sailer!

I so agree! I can vouch with having 3 kids. One was born at 38 weeks, the next at 35 and the third- 39 weeks. The third by far is the most advanced and the healthiest! He will be here soon chica!

I had an induction because for the last month of my pregnancy, the bottom number of my blood pressure was high, so my doctor said to avoid risking pre-clamsia she wanted to induce. Like I said, I was SO hesitant, and even questioned her on it, but she said we really needed to induce. I was so nervous about it, but it couldn't have been more perfect. I went in all ready, took a Tylenol PM the night before (knowing it was my last night of sleep for a while,) everything was done on my to-do list, etc. And I got my epidural in plenty of time before contractions got too bad, then pushed for about 5 minutes, and Clara came easily out!
